Vrhovci is located in the mountainous Gorski Kotar region, near the town of Čabar. Situated at a considerable altitude, the village gives a climate that remains pleasantly cool even in high summer. The landscape is dominated by deep coniferous forests and vast mountain meadows, making Vrhovci a paradise for hikers and mushroom pickers. The architecture of the houses is adapted to snowy winters, often featuring steep roofs and extensive woodwork. The region around Čabar is historically closely linked to the Zrinski family, and visitors can visit the Zrinski Castle nearby. Vrhovci itself is a place of absolute silence, interrupted only by the rustling of the wind in the treetops. Wildlife is particularly abundant here; it is not uncommon to spot deer or rare birds right at the edge of the village. For active travelers, the area has challenging mountain bike trails and paths leading to the Risnjak National Park. Gastronomically, Vrhovci provides the typical cuisine of the Croatian highlands. Game dishes, forest fruits, and homemade cheese are prominent. Wild blueberries and raspberries growing in the vicinity are especially popular. Despite its seclusion, the village is accessible via mountain roads that offer spectacular views of the Croatian and Slovenian Alps. It is the well-suited place for a 'digital detox' and a return to nature.
