Selca is located in the eastern part of Brač island and is worldwide known for its centuries-old tradition of stonemasonry. Almost every building in the town is made of the precious white Brač stone, giving Selca a unique, almost monumental appearance. The heart of the village is the impressive neo-Romanesque Church of Christ the King, often referred to as the 'Cathedral of Brač', which dominates the main square. Unique to Selca are the numerous monuments to international figures, such as the world's first Tolstoy monument, or statues of John Paul II and Hans-Dietrich Genscher. These reflect the openness and education of the residents. The surroundings offer beautiful bays like Radonja and Spilice, inviting swimming in crystal-clear waters. In local konobas, one can enjoy famous Brač specialties: lamb on the spit, sheep cheese, and high-quality olive oil. Selca is a place for gourmets who appreciate aesthetics, history, and the quiet side of island life. The stone quarries in the area are still active and can partly be visited.
