Kaštelir and Labinci now form a single municipality, located about 10 kilometers northeast of Poreč. The region is renowned for its fertile red soil (Terra Rossa), which produces some of Croatia's finest olive oils and wines. Situated on a plateau 240 meters above sea level, the town features sweeping views of the Adriatic, and on clear days, one can see as far as Venice. The architecture features traditional Istrian stone houses, many of which have been meticulously renovated into luxury holiday villas. The town is a hub for lovers of local gastronomy, with many family-run estates selling products directly to visitors. Besides wine and oil, Kaštelir potatoes are regionally famous, celebrated every summer during the 'Gramperijada' festival. Culture seekers will find valuable frescoes and inscriptions in the churches of both villages. The surrounding landscape is first-rate for cyclists and hikers, offering trails through olive groves and oak forests that capture the serenity of inland Istria. The beaches of Lanterna or Tar are just a 15-minute drive away.
