Chissioua Ouénéfou is one of the larger and more ecologically diverse islands of the Nioumachoua group within the Mohéli Marine Park. Along the coast, there are extensive nesting beaches for Green Sea Turtles, which lay their eggs here under the protection of the park management. The offshore coral reef is among the most magnificent in the entire archipelago, offering divers and snorkelers sightings of colorful parrotfish, moray eels, and occasionally reef sharks. Geologically, the island is of volcanic origin, reflected in its dark rock formations and mineral-rich soil.
