Rosen Mountains (Bulgaria)

Weather…

The Rosen Mountains, also known as Rossen Bair, are a low-lying mountain ridge in southeastern Bulgaria, situated near the Black Sea coast between the cities of Burgas and Sozopol. This range is the northern extension of the Meden Rid ridge, serving as a transitional landscape between the Strandzha Mountains and the seaside. The highest peak is Mount Rosen, standing at 367 meters above sea level. Despite its modest elevation, the ridge gives sweeping panoramic views of the Gulf of Burgas and the surrounding coastal area. Historically, the region is highly significant due to its rich copper deposits, which have been mined since antiquity by Thracians and Romans alike. Numerous archaeological findings, including ancient mining galleries and settlement remains, testify to the area's long industrial history. The vegetation consists mainly of deciduous oak forests and Mediterranean shrubs, making it a favored spot for hiking and nature exploration. The area is also ecologically valuable, hosting several protected plant species native to the Black Sea region.
