Bratsigovo is a town of great historical significance located in the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains, famed for its architectural heritage and role in the 1876 April Uprising. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it was the center of a renowned school of master builders who constructed monumental churches and bridges throughout the Balkans. A prime example of their craft is the Church of Saint John the Baptist, which features the tallest Orthodox bell tower in the Balkan Peninsula, built by the master Petko Petkov. During the uprising against Ottoman rule, the town's citizens mounted a fierce resistance, commemorated today by various monuments and a dedicated museum of revolutionary history. Bratsigovo is also a center for rose oil production and agriculture, taking advantage of the fertile land and favorable mountain climate. Nearby mineral springs offer therapeutic benefits, making the town a destination for health and recreation. The well-preserved National Revival architecture in its old districts provides an authentic glimpse into Bulgaria's past. Today, it stands as a vital cultural hub in the Pazardzhik Province.
