Peshtera is a pretty town in the heart of the Western Rhodope Mountains, renowned for its striking natural scenery and rich history. The town's main attraction is the Snezhanka Cave, often called the 'fairy-tale cave' for its incredible formations. Visitors can also explore the town's historical museum, which showcases artifacts from ancient times to the present day, as well as the iconic 17th-century clock tower. Peshtera is also a center for winemaking, with several local wineries offering tastings of the region's varietals, particularly Mavrud. The region's gastronomy reflects its mountain location, with hearty dishes like Patatnik (a potato-based dish) and Cheverme (spit-roasted lamb).
