Meragang Beach, also known as Crocodile Beach, is a secluded stretch of coast in the Brunei-Muara district. It gets its nickname not from the actual presence of crocodiles, but rather from a rock formation that resembles a crocodile from a distance. The beach is relatively undeveloped and less crowded than other beaches in Brunei, giving it a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. It is known for its fine white sand and clear waters. The area is popular with locals who come for fishing, picnicking, and enjoying the spectacular sunsets over the South China Sea. Nearby is the Marine Biodiversity Centre, which is dedicated to the research and conservation of Brunei's marine ecosystem. Despite its beauty, caution is advised as currents can be strong.

Often referred to locally as Crocodile Beach, this tranquil spot is easily accessed by turning off the main Muara-Tutong highway. The unassuming entrance road is relatively quiet, leading directly to a modest parking area right on the edge of the sand.

The calmest and most enjoyable weather typically spans from February through May, providing convenient conditions for a peaceful seaside retreat. The northeast monsoon season, beginning late in the year, consistently brings increased rainfall and significant driftwood.

Visitors will discover an exceptionally long, uninterrupted stretch of golden sand that slopes gently towards the remarkably warm ocean waters. Unlike more developed areas, the back of the beach transitions seamlessly into untouched coastal vegetation.

Because there are virtually no commercial facilities or vendors, visitors must independently bring all necessary supplies, including substantial drinking water. Sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and a simple towel or mat are the only other essentials needed here.

A small, unpaved parking section is available directly by the main entry point, providing immediate access to the sand. Given the location's famously quiet reputation, finding a convenient space is rarely an issue, even during pleasant weekend afternoons.

Despite the intimidating local nickname, crocodile sightings are incredibly rare; however, general vigilance near the adjacent river mouth is still highly advised. Swimmers should remain cautious of sudden tidal shifts and completely unpatrolled waters.
