Tubize is a town located in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant, to the west of Brussels. Historically, the town was a major center for the steel industry, particularly with the Forges de Clabecq, which dominated the local economy for over a century. Although the heavy industry has declined, its heritage is still visible in the town's landscape and community identity. Today, Tubize is evolving into a residential town, benefiting from its proximity to the capital. For visitors, the Parc des Ducs (Park of the Dukes) gives a pleasant green space for walks and relaxation. The church of Saint-Gervais-et-Saint-Protais is a notable landmark. The town is also the birthplace of the famous Belgian cyclist Walter Godefroot. Local gastronomy includes typical Belgian fare, including a variety of beers and cheeses from the Wallonia region. Its proximity to the Hallerbos (Blue Forest), famous for its panoramic carpet of bluebells in the spring, is another draw. Getting to Tubize is very easy, as it has direct train connections to Brussels (around 20 minutes) and other major Belgian cities. It is also well-connected to the motorway network. The best time to visit is during the spring to witness the bloom in the nearby Hallerbos, or in the summer to enjoy the pleasant weather for exploring the town and its surroundings.
