Bibiyana Gas Field (Bangladesh)

Weather…

Bibiyana gas field, located in Brahmanbaria district, is Bangladesh's second-largest natural gas field. Discovered in 1998 by Chevron (USA), production started in 2007. The field spans about 15 square kilometers and produces from depths of 2,200-3,500 meters. Initial proven reserves were roughly 2.7 trillion cubic feet (TCF), with about 40% extracted by 2020. Bibiyana accounts for around 40% of national gas output, with daily production of about 1.2 billion cubic feet. Chevron operates under a production-sharing contract with Petrobangla. Gas is supplied to power plants and industrial users via pipelines. The field is critical for Bangladesh's energy mix but is projected to be depleted within the next two decades.
