Al Dair is a village on the northern coast of Muharraq Island in Bahrain. The name, which means 'the monastery', suggests a possible Christian past in the region, although it is mainly inhabited by Muslims today. Traditionally, Al Dair was an agricultural village known for its date palm groves. Like many coastal villages in Bahrain, it has undergone significant changes due to land reclamation and urbanization. It is located in close proximity to Bahrain International Airport. The village maintains a strong local community and preserves a sense of traditional Bahraini village culture. Although it has modernized, traces of its agricultural past can still be found. Its coastal location provides residents with access to the sea, even if the coastline has been altered by development.
