Gobustan Mud Volcanoes

Weather…
Water temperature…
Azerbaijan is known as the country with the most mud volcanoes in the world, and a significant portion of them are located near the Gobustan National Park. These geological phenomena are not typical volcanoes with lava; instead, they erupt cold mud, water, and gases from deep within the Earth. The landscape looks otherworldly, with hundreds of small and large cones continuously bubbling and spitting mud. The mud volcanoes are a result of tectonic movements and the presence of underground gas and oil. Although not as dangerous as magma volcanoes, their eruptions can still be impressive, hurling mud hundreds of meters into the air. The area is a fascinating destination for geologists and tourists alike, offering a unique and surreal landscape.
