Yerevan Cascade (Armenia)

Weather…

The Yerevan Cascade is a massive limestone stairway and cultural complex that connects the downtown Kentron district with the Monument neighborhood. Designed by architect Jim Torosyan, construction began in 1971 and saw significant expansion in the 2000s under the sponsorship of Gerard Cafesjian. The complex houses the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, featuring an extensive collection of contemporary art, including outdoor sculptures by world-renowned artists like Fernando Botero and Jaume Plensa. The structure consists of five main levels with 572 steps in total, covering a vertical height difference of 118 meters. Inside, escalators run the entire length of the complex, allowing visitors to access the various gallery levels and the top observation platform without climbing. From the summit, one can enjoy a panoramic panoramic view of Yerevan's pink-tufa buildings with the majestic Mount Ararat serving as a permanent backdrop.
