El Tarter is a pleasant mountain village and ski resort in the parish of Canillo, within the Principality of Andorra. Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,710 meters, it is part of Grandvalira, the largest ski area in the Pyrenees. The settlement has evolved from a traditional pastoral hamlet into a modern tourist center, yet it has retained much of its original character through its stone architecture. During winter, El Tarter is a hotspot for winter sports enthusiasts, famous for its world-class snowpark and wide slopes suitable for both beginners and experts. In summer, the region transforms into a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers, with numerous trails leading through alpine landscapes and to hidden mountain lakes. Its strategic location on the CG-2 road makes it a good base for exploring all of Andorra. Despite tourist development, the atmosphere in El Tarter remains quieter and more family-friendly than in neighboring Pas de la Casa.
