Weather…

Timgad, known in ancient Rome as Thamugadi, is one of North Africa's best-preserved Roman colonial cities and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Founded around 100 AD by Emperor Trajan, it was originally established as a military colony for veterans. The city is renowned for its rigid gridiron plan, serving as a great example of Roman town planning. Among its most prominent ruins are the Arch of Trajan, the ancient theater, the Capitol, and the well-preserved thermal baths. Excavations have revealed a highly sophisticated civilization featuring libraries, markets, and intricate mosaics, which can be viewed today in the onsite museum. Timgad declined following the Vandal invasion and the Arab expansion but remained protected under desert sands until its rediscovery in the 19th century. Today, the site provides a fascinating glimpse into daily life at the frontiers of the Roman Empire.
