Wang Nam Khiao
Wang Nam Khiao is often referred to as the region with the cleanest air in Thailand. Thanks to its high-altitude location, it enjoys a refreshingly cool climate year-round, making it a popular getaway for Bangkok residents. The area is famous for its sprawling vineyards, such as Village Farm & Winery, where visitors can sample locally produced wines. Another highlight is Flora Park, a massive botanical garden featuring millions of flowers in impressive arrangements. Nature takes center stage here. The region is bordered by Khao Yai and Thap Lan National Parks, offering great opportunities for wildlife spotting, particularly the wild gaur at Khao Phaeng Ma. Besides viticulture, the area is well-known for organic mushroom farms and various winter vegetables, which are available fresh at local markets. The best time to visit is during the Thai winter from November to February, when the flowers are in full bloom. Wang Nam Khiao is most easily reached by car from Bangkok or Nakhon Ratchasima. It is a peaceful destination, well-suited for ecotourism, photography, and relaxing weekends in scenic mountain resorts.
