The Lin family was one of the most influential dynasties in Taiwan, playing a crucial role in the island's political and economic history during the Qing era. The estate is divided into three main sections: the Upper Residence, the Lower Residence, and the Laiyuan Garden. A highlight of the mansion is the Grand Tea House, featuring a magnificent outdoor theater stage renowned for its intricate wood carvings and animated decorations. Although the massive 1999 Jiji earthquake caused severe damage, the complex underwent a meticulous restoration process to preserve its heritage and showcase the exquisite craftsmanship of the period.
