Mengjia Longshan Temple (Taiwan)

Weather…

The Mengjia Longshan Temple in the Wanhua District of Taipei is one of Taiwan's oldest and most significant religious landmarks. Founded in 1738 by settlers from Fujian, the temple is primarily dedicated to Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy, but it also enshrines numerous deities from Taoism and Confucianism. Throughout its history, the temple has been damaged multiple times by earthquakes, fires, and even Allied bombing during World War II, yet it has always been rebuilt by the local community. The current architecture showcases the exquisite Southern Chinese style, featuring intricate wood and stone carvings, dragon pillars, and ornate roof decorations. Longshan Temple serves not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural hub where traditional rituals and the daily life of Taipei's residents intersect, offering a window into the spiritual heritage of the island.
