O Grove is a coastal municipality set on a peninsula facing the Ría de Arousa, widely celebrated as a premier destination for Galician seafood. The town’s economy relies heavily on fishing and aquaculture, specifically the extensive mussel farming conducted on wooden platforms known as 'bateas' anchored in the bay. Visitors regularly take boat tours out to these platforms, often concluding with a tasting of steamed mussels and local wine on board. Every October, O Grove hosts the Fiesta del Marisco, a massive seafood festival that attracts tens of thousands of people eager to sample local spider crabs, scallops, and oysters. Connected to the main peninsula by a 19th-century bridge is the Isla de La Toja. This small adjacent island is famous for its thermal springs and historical grand hotels, as well as the unique Chapel of San Caralampio, which is completely covered in scallop shells. The area also encompasses several extensive beaches, such as A Lanzada, a popular spot for windsurfing.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jul–Sep.
