Being so close to Valencia, look for traditional rice restaurants in the town center serving authentic wood-fired paella.
Excellent for a hot afternoon break; find a local 'horchatería' near the main plazas.
Enjoy local Valencian tapas and a cold local beer in the bustling bars around Plaza Rafael Atard.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Buy authentic, hand-painted bowls or tiles directly from the workshops in the Barrio de Obradors.
Look for these traditional, medieval-style baked clay tiles with reddish-brown and black patterns, unique to the area.
The nearby dry riverbed of the Turia has long, peaceful walking and cycling paths connecting towards Valencia.
A pleasant local park with greenery and (naturally) some ceramic decorations, well-suited for resting.

Manises, a city in the province of Valencia, is internationally known as the cradle of Spanish ceramics. For over seven centuries, the artisans of Manises have been producing exquisite ceramic works. The facades of many buildings are decorated with colourful tiles, known as 'azulejos', bearing witness to this rich history. A must-see is the Municipal Museum of Ceramics, which displays an impressive collection of pieces from the 14th century to the present day. Visitors can also take part in workshop tours. Besides its ceramic importance, Manises is also home to Valencia Airport (VLC), making it a major transport hub. Thanks to the metro connection, the centre of Valencia can be reached in just a few minutes. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn to avoid the summer heat. The annual 'Festa de la Ceràmica' in July is a special highlight.
