Llugones is deeply commercial and busy; parking in the main avenues can be difficult, so use the designated public parking lots on the outskirts.
Being a transport hub, the local train (Cercanías) is the fastest way to travel between Llugones and nearby Oviedo or Gijón, avoiding heavy traffic.
Join the locals for 'la hora del vermut' around 1:00 PM on weekends, enjoying a sweet vermouth before lunch at the sidewalk cafes.

Llugones is strategically located in the center of Asturias, Spain, belonging to the municipality of Siero. It has grown from a small village into one of the most important population, commercial, and industrial centers in the region. Its position, just a few kilometers from the capital, Oviedo, makes it a key logistical hub and an attractive residential area. Although not a traditional tourist destination, Llugones provides a spirited and modern atmosphere with a multitude of shops, restaurants, and services that cater to much of central Asturias. Culinarily, Llugones is a reflection of Asturian gastronomy. Visitors can enjoy the famous 'Fabada Asturiana' (a rich bean stew), local cheeses, and fresh seafood. The town is especially known for its 'sidrerías', where one can taste the traditional cider, poured in a spectacular fashion from a height. The festivals of Santa Isabel in early July and El Carmín at the end of the same month are the main local celebrations, marked by music, traditional events, and plenty of cider. Getting to Llugones is very easy as it is connected by the region's main highways (A-66 and AS-II) and has regular bus and train services to Oviedo and Gijón. This makes it a well-suited base for exploring Asturias, from the peaks of the Picos de Europa to the beaches of the Cantabrian coast. The best time to visit is during the summer to enjoy the good weather and local festivals, although the mild Asturian climate makes a visit pleasant at any time of year.
