Alfafar is a bustling town located just south of the city of Valencia, forming part of its metropolitan area. Historically an agricultural area known for its rice paddies, today Alfafar is a major commercial hub, home to one of the largest shopping and leisure complexes in the region, featuring numerous furniture stores, a large shopping mall, and restaurants. This makes it a popular destination for shoppers from all over the Valencian Community. Beyond its commercial appeal, Alfafar borders the Albufera Natural Park, a vast freshwater lagoon and estuary, which is one of the most important wetland areas in Spain. This proximity allows visitors to easily combine a day of shopping with a visit to the serene landscapes of the park, where they can enjoy birdwatching, boat trips, and taste the authentic Valencian paella in a traditional 'barraca'. The town is well-connected to Valencia by bus and train, making it easily accessible. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn.
