Albal is a welcoming town in the Valencian Community, located just a few kilometres south of the animated city of Valencia. As part of the historical Horta Sud region, Albal is deeply rooted in agriculture, especially the cultivation of oranges and vegetables. Its location makes it an excellent base for exploring the nearby Albufera Natural Park, one of Spain's most important wetlands, famous for its rice paddies and rich birdlife. A walk or a boat trip through the Albufera at sunset is an unforgettable experience. The heart of the town is home to the Hermitage of Santa Ana and the 11th-century Moorish Tower, a testament to its long history. This tower once served as a watchtower in Valencia's defensive system. The local gastronomy reflects the agricultural surroundings, with dishes like Paella Valenciana and All i Pebre (eel stew) being specialities. The best time to visit is during spring or autumn to avoid the crowds and enjoy the mild climate. In March, the famous Fallas festival takes place, a spectacular celebration with giant papier-mâché sculptures, fireworks, and parades. Getting to Albal is very easy. It is connected to the centre of Valencia by an excellent network of suburban trains (Cercanías) and buses, with the journey taking only about 15 minutes. Valencia Airport (VLC) is also easily accessible by car or public transport. This accessibility, combined with its traditional charm and natural beauty, makes Albal an attractive destination.
