Osuna

Osuna, situated in the heart of the Andalusian countryside, is a true open-air museum of Baroque architecture. For centuries, the city was the seat of the Dukes of Osuna, which is reflected in the monumentality of its buildings. Calle San Pedro is the centerpiece of the town and has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the most beautiful streets on the continent, lined with 18th-century coat-of-arms bearing palaces like the Palacio de los Cepeda. Towering over the town are its most significant monuments: the Collegiate Church of Santa María de la Asunción, which houses an impressive art collection, and the University of Osuna, founded in 1548. The surroundings of Osuna are characterized by olive groves and grain fields, which is also reflected in the local cuisine. Specialties like ardoria (a variant of salmorejo) or cocido ursaonense are very popular here. The town is conveniently located on the A-92 motorway between Seville and Málaga, making it an excellent stopover. The climate is typically continental-Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters, with spring being the most impressive time to visit during its religious festivals.
