Bandingilo National Park (South Sudan)

Weather…

Bandingilo National Park is a protected area in eastern South Sudan, east of the White Nile. Established in 1992, the park covers 8,000 km² of savanna and woodland. It is known for the migration of the white-eared kob, which moves seasonally between Bandingilo and Boma National Park. The park also supports populations of elephant, giraffe, and oribi. During the civil wars, wildlife suffered from poaching and habitat disturbance. Since independence, the government has worked with NGOs to improve management. In 2015, a census recorded 50,000 white-eared kob within the park. Bandingilo is also an Important Bird Area (IBA), with species such as the black-winged pratincole. The park has no permanent water sources, forcing animals to migrate. Visitor facilities are minimal, with basic campsites available.
