Anse Lazio (Seychelles)

Weather…

Anse Lazio is located in the northwest of Praslin Island and is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is characterized by its extremely fine white coral sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, framed by massive granite boulders. Unlike many other beaches in the Seychelles, Anse Lazio is not protected by an offshore coral reef, leading to deeper waters and stronger surf. The vegetation along the fringe consists of Takamaka trees and palms providing natural shade. Historically, the beach remained a lesser-known spot for a long time due to its remote location before being discovered by international tourism. Despite its popularity, the beach has largely preserved its natural character, as background development has been kept discreet. The bay is also an important site for observing marine fauna, with snorkelers often sighting rays and sea turtles near the rocks. Due to the lack of a reef barrier, caution is advised when swimming, especially during the southeast monsoon.

Situated gracefully on the northwest tip of Praslin, it is widely accessible via a steep, winding road. Most visitors arrive effortlessly by rental car, organized taxi, or take a vigorous, scenic walk from the nearest public bus stop.
📅
Best season
This location is universally considered an excellent destination to visit year-round. However, April and November typically provide the absolute calmest seas and the clearest skies, which are excellent for capturing iconic, flawless tropical photographs.
⛰️
Terrain & paths
The striking area features a broad, expansive sweep of very fine white sand that gently slopes into the clear ocean. The entire beach is beautifully bookended by large, remarkably pretty granite boulder formations that invite exploration.
🎒
What to bring
Snorkeling equipment is highly recommended to properly explore the marine life near the rocky ends of the beach. Do not forget to bring ample sunscreen, reliable shade options like a small tent, and plenty of fresh drinking water.

Parking
Three designated, unpaved parking areas are generally available just a very short stroll from the beach itself. It is important to note that these spots can fill up quite quickly during the absolute peak daytime hours in high season.
⚠️
Safety
While the waters are usually very calm and inviting, watch out for occasional strong currents lingering near the large rocks. Additionally, always be mindfully aware of falling coconuts when seeking natural shade directly under the palm trees.
