Weather…

Vallée de Mai, located on the island of Praslin, is a world-renowned nature reserve and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983. It is home to the largest contiguous forest of the legendary Coco de Mer palm, whose seeds are the largest and heaviest in the entire plant kingdom. This prehistoric palm forest has remained almost unchanged for millions of years and is often referred to as the original "Garden of Eden." In addition to the Coco de Mer, five other endemic palm species grow here that are found nowhere else in the world. The dense vegetation creates a unique microclimate that serves as a habitat for rare animal species such as the Seychelles Black Parrot. Historically, the valley remained untouched for a long time until it was placed under protection in the 20th century to prevent the exploitation of the valuable nuts. Hiking trails lead visitors through the twilight world of giant palm fronds that almost completely block out the sunlight. The reserve's scientific importance lies in the study of the evolution of isolated island ecosystems.
