Consolation is a secluded coastal area in the south of Praslin whose name derives from the French and recalls an early plantation owner who established a "consolation garden" here after a storm destroyed his coconut trees. The region is characterized by a wild, barely developed coastline with large granite boulders and small beach stretches reachable only by narrow paths or boat. The area belongs to the Baie Sainte Anne district and consists mainly of small subsistence farms, scattered private homes, and untouched slopes. Because Consolation is hardly developed for tourism, a special stillness reigns here, broken only by the cries of tropic birds and the breaking of waves. Offshore lies the endemic coral zone of St. Pierre Islet, popular with recreational boaters. Botanically Consolation is rich in native pandanus species and wild bananas, with several endemic orchids documented in the surrounding hills.
