Diamond Falls (St. Lucia)

Weather…

Diamond Falls in Saint Lucia is a remarkable natural spectacle located within the Diamond Botanical Gardens near Soufrière. The waterfall is fed by underground thermal springs, making the water exceptionally rich in minerals like sulphur, copper, and iron. These substances deposit onto the rock face over time, creating a bustling, ever-changing tapestry of yellow, green, and purple hues. The site is part of the historic 2,000-acre Soufrière Estate, granted to the Devaux family by King Louis XIV in 1713. Later, in 1784, King Louis XVI funded the construction of stone baths on the site so his troops could benefit from the water's medicinal properties. Today, visitors can stroll through lush gardens filled with ginger lilies and bird of paradise flowers, view the colorful falls, and soak in the restored mineral pools, though bathing directly under the main cascade is prohibited for safety and conservation reasons.
