Diamond Falls Royal Baths (St. Lucia)

Weather…

The Diamond Falls Royal Baths stand as a remarkable historical site, reflecting the 18th-century French influence on Saint Lucia. Established in 1784 by order of King Louis XVI, the baths were specifically designed to provide therapeutic relief for French soldiers stationed in the West Indies. The facility utilizes the natural thermal springs of Soufrière, which are fed by the volcanic activity of the nearby Pitons Management Area. This volcanic origin ensures the water is heavily infused with magnesium, iron, and copper, minerals known for their healing properties. After falling into ruin during the French Revolution, the site was painstakingly restored in the 1930s by the DuBoulay family, using the original stone foundations. Now situated within the lush Diamond Botanical Gardens, the baths offer a serene environment where visitors can still soak in the mineral-rich waters that have been prized for centuries for their restorative qualities.
