Krasiczyn Castle (Poland)

Weather…

Krasiczyn Castle is a prime example of Renaissance and Mannerist architecture in southeastern Poland. Built at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries by the Krasicki family, the castle is distinguished by its four characteristic corner towers. These towers, the Divine, the Papal, the Royal, and the Noble, symbolize the social and spiritual hierarchy of the world as understood at the time. The exterior walls are adorned with impressive sgraffito decorations depicting biblical scenes, portraits of Polish kings, and decorative medallions. The estate is surrounded by a sprawling English landscape park containing numerous exotic tree species. Despite suffering heavy damage during World War II, the castle has been meticulously restored and now serves as a hotel and cultural center. The chapel located within the Divine Tower is regarded as one of the finest late Mannerist sacred interiors in Poland.
