The Botanical Garden of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, a tranquil green oasis right in the bustling center of the historic royal city, is not merely a place of recreation but also a monument to the history of science: it is the oldest botanical garden in Poland. Since its foundation at the end of the 18th century, it has amassed one of the richest and most valuable plant collections in the country. The undisputed heart of the complex is the majestic, historic palm house, which exudes an exotic jungle atmosphere and houses ancient cycads as well as rare tropical orchids.
