Port Barton is the pleasant and much quieter alternative to El Nido. Travelers especially appreciate the slow pace of life here, as the village has maintained its authentic character. The main attraction is island hopping, where you can discover secluded sandbars, colorful coral reefs, and with luck, sea turtles while snorkeling. Itaytay Beach is the heart of the village, lined with cozy cafes and restaurants. The surroundings offer dense jungle and hidden waterfalls like Pamuayan Falls, which can be reached after a short hike. The local gastronomy is a mix of freshly caught fish and international influences, served in rustic beach bars. It is the first-rate place for independent travelers looking for pure nature without the crowds of mass tourism. Access is usually by minivan from Puerto Princesa or El Nido, taking about 3-4 hours. Given the tropical climate, the best time to visit is between December and April, when the sea is calm and the sky is clear. Those coming here should prepare for a simpler infrastructure, which is more than made up for by the warm hospitality of the locals.
