Sipalay
Sipalay, often called the "Jewel of the Sugar Island," is a hidden coastal paradise in Negros Occidental. It is the well-suited destination for travelers seeking to escape the crowds and experience the raw beauty of the Philippines. The city is characterized by its dramatic landscape where lush limestone hills meet crystal-clear waters. Its spectacular sunsets are widely considered some of the most beautiful in the country, painting the sky in bustling hues every evening. The main draws are Sugar Beach, with its fine golden-brown sand, and the diving haven of Punta Ballo. Underwater, over 40 dive sites await, including animated coral gardens and well-preserved World War II shipwrecks. For those who prefer land-based nature, Tinagong Dagat is, a collection of small islets in a calm lagoon connected by scenic wooden bridges, offering panoramic panoramic views of the entire area. The local culinary scene focuses on fresh seafood and the region's famous "Chicken Inasal." Sipalay is best reached via a 4-to-5-hour bus or private car ride from either Bacolod City or Dumaguete. The convenient time to visit is during the dry season from November to May, when underwater visibility is at its peak and the sea conditions are most favorable for island hopping and diving.
