Cahuachi (Peru)

Weather…

Cahuachi was the most important religious and ceremonial center of the Nazca culture, spanning an area of 24 square kilometers in the desert. The site consists of over 40 mounds, which are topped by adobe pyramids and ritual platforms. Unlike a residential city, Cahuachi primarily served as a pilgrimage site for pilgrims who celebrated sacred festivals and performed ritual offerings here. Many of the famous Nazca Lines in the area point directly to this center, underscoring the close connection between the geoglyphs and the cult site. Around 500 AD, the city was ritually abandoned after several natural disasters and buried under a layer of sand and debris.
