Ciudad del Este is the animated capital of the Alto Paraná Department and Paraguay's second-largest city, functioning as a vital economic engine for the entire region. Established in 1957 as Puerto Flor de Lis, it was later known as Puerto Presidente Stroessner before adopting its current name in 1989.
