Noor Mahal (Pakistan)

Weather…

Noor Mahal is an Italianate-style palace located in Bahawalpur that was commissioned by Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan IV in 1872. The palace was designed by a British engineer and is notable for its synthesis of European architectural elements with local traditions. It features a grand facade with Ionic columns, arched windows, and a central dome that was added later in the early 20th century. The interior is lavishly decorated with crystal chandeliers, gold-framed mirrors, and exquisite furniture imported from Europe. Legend has it that the Nawab built the palace for his wife, though she reportedly stayed there for only one night due to its proximity to a graveyard. For many years, the palace remained closed to the public and was used by the military before being restored and opened as a museum. Today, it showcases various artifacts, including old weapons, vintage photographs, and historical documents related to the princely state of Bahawalpur.
