Lal Suhanra National Park is a unique biosphere reserve near Bahawalpur, established in 1972. It is one of the largest national parks in South Asia, covering 162,568 hectares. The park is recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve and includes three distinct ecosystems: a desert (Cholistan), a forest, and wetlands. This diversity creates habitats for a wide range of animal and plant species. One of the main attractions is the conservation program for the blackbuck, a species once common in the region but now endangered. The park is also an important habitat for the nilgai and chinkara. A large lake, Patisar Lake, attracts numerous migratory birds in winter, making the park a haven for birdwatchers. The park plays a crucial role in preserving the biodiversity of the Cholistan Desert.
