Naran
Naran is the tourist heart of the Kaghan Valley and a magnet for both domestic and international travelers. The town is situated on the banks of the Kunhar River, offering a lively atmosphere with numerous hotels, restaurants, and markets. The absolute highlight is Saif-ul-Muluk Lake, located above 3,200 meters and steeped in legends of fairies and princes. The crystal-clear reflection of Malika Parbat in the lake's water is an unforgettable sight. Besides the lake, Naran provides access to the Babusar Pass, the gateway to the Northern Areas, offering sweeping views of the Himalayan and Karakoram ranges. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy river rafting on the Kunhar, trout fishing, and hikes to nearby meadows like Lalazar. Local gastronomy is characterized by freshly caught trout, served in many street-side eateries. Naran is mostly cut off in winter due to heavy snowfall. The travel season starts in May and ends in October. The road from Mansehra to Naran features spectacular views of waterfalls and dense pine forests, making the journey part of the experience.
