Barr Al Hikman (Oman)

Weather…

Barr Al Hikman is a large peninsula on the east coast of Oman, known for its extensive salt flats (sabkhas) and tidal flats. It is one of the most important wetlands in the Middle East and a crucial stopover for migratory birds on the East Atlantic Flyway. Hundreds of thousands of birds, including many waders and flamingos, winter here or use it as a staging post. The landscape is flat and barren but of immense ecological importance. The tidal range is significant, exposing vast areas at low tide that are rich in invertebrates, providing a food source for the birds. The region is also known for its pristine beaches and opportunities for sea turtle watching. Due to its fragility and importance, the area has been proposed as a Ramsar Site.
