Weather…

Greenport Westland, often referred to as the 'Glass City', is the world's leading hub for greenhouse horticulture and a decisive pillar of the Dutch agricultural economy. Located between The Hague, Delft, and Rotterdam, the area hosts the highest concentration of high-tech greenhouses in the world. Annually, billions of flowers and plants, as well as vast quantities of fruits and vegetables, are produced here for the global market. The region is characterized by a unique ecosystem of producers, logistics providers, research institutions, and suppliers working together on innovations such as vertical farming and sustainable crop protection. A distinctive feature is the use of geothermal energy and industrial waste heat to heat the greenhouses, making Westland a pioneer in sustainable food production. The flower auction in Naaldwijk, part of Royal FloraHolland, serves as the lively commercial heart of the sector. Greenport Westland not only secures the global supply of fresh products but also acts as a major driver for technology exports in horticultural expertise.
