The Pathé Tuschinski in Amsterdam is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cinemas in the world and remains an architectural masterpiece in the city center. It was opened in 1921 by Abraham Tuschinski, a Polish-Jewish immigrant who envisioned a movie palace of unparalleled luxury. The building’s unique design seamlessly blends elements of Art Deco, Jugendstil, and the Amsterdam School. Its magnificent facade, flanked by two towers, and its opulent interior featuring murals, hand-woven carpets, and ornate chandeliers, evoke the glamour of the Roaring Twenties. During the German occupation in World War II, the Tuschinski name was removed from the building, though the structure itself fortunately survived the war. Following an extensive restoration in 2002, its original grandeur was meticulously recovered while incorporating state-of-the-art cinema technology. Today, it remains a premier venue for prestigious national and international film premieres and red-carpet events.
