Morrungulo is regarded as one of Mozambique's most beautiful stretches of coastline, defined by towering coconut palms that reach down to the white sandy shores. It is a haven for divers and snorkelers, as the offshore reefs host an incredible variety of marine life. Sea turtles, rays, and even whale sharks during the right season are common sights in these waters. Away from the water, Morrungulo provides a relaxed atmosphere with small lodges and campsites harmoniously integrated into the natural landscape. The area is great for long beach walks and exploring the local coastal flora. The region is celebrated for its peacefulness, lacking large hotel complexes or noisy entertainment venues. The best time to visit is between June and October, when the weather is mild and humpback whales can be seen migrating along the coast. Access is typically via the EN1 highway, though the final sandy stretches often require a 4x4 vehicle. Culinary highlights include local crabs and fresh fish, often grilled right on the beach for an authentic experience.
