Weather…

Mandlakazi, also known as Manjacaze, is a historically significant site in Gaza Province, inextricably linked to the fate of the Gaza Empire and its last great ruler, Ngungunhane. In the late 19th century, Mandlakazi served as the spiritual and political center of the empire, which controlled vast swathes of present-day southern Mozambique. This was the location of the royal residence from which Ngungunhane organized resistance against encroaching Portuguese colonial forces. The region was the site of the decisive Battle of Coolela in 1895, which eventually led to the collapse of the Gaza Empire and the King's capture. Today, Mandlakazi is a vital place of remembrance, where monuments and historical markers inform visitors about the heroic defense of African sovereignty. The site symbolizes the martial spirit and cultural identity of the Shangaan people. Beyond its historical weight, Manjacaze is a lively local hub that sustains Gaza heritage through festivals and oral traditions. Historians value the location as a key to understanding pre-colonial power structures in Southeast Africa.
