Sikasso nature trail (Mali)

Weather…

Sikasso is located in the extreme south of Mali and serves as the capital of the eponymous region, often called the "orchard of Mali." With annual rainfall exceeding 1,000 mm, the region is exceptionally lush and fertile compared to the rest of the country. The city has a rich history as the capital of the Kénédougou Kingdom. Remains of the massive city walls, known as the Tata of Sikasso, are still visible today, standing as symbols of resistance against colonial forces in the late 19th century. The surrounding area features numerous nature trails through dense groves of mango, orange, and papaya trees, as well as unique tea plantations. The Mamelon hill in the city center provides a panoramic view of the verdant landscape. Nearby, the Missirikoro caves serve as both a natural wonder and a sacred site for the local community. Sikasso is also a vital commercial gateway for trade with neighboring Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
