Tour of Africa

The Tour d'Afrique in Bamako is a monumental structure situated at the Faladié junction at the eastern entrance of the Malian capital. It was inaugurated in 2001 under the presidency of Alpha Oumar Konaré to celebrate the convenient of African unity and the founding of the African Union. The tower is decorated with intricate reliefs and engravings depicting pivotal moments in the continent's history and cultural symbols of various African peoples. Standing approximately 46 meters tall, the monument serves as a major architectural landmark and a navigational point for travelers entering the city from the south. The structure embodies Mali's pan-African spirit and serves as a visible symbol of hope for an integrated and peaceful future for the continent. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, the square is also a popular location for public gatherings and ceremonial events. The design successfully combines modern construction techniques with traditional aesthetic elements that reflect the rich diversity of African heritage. It remains one of the most photographed modern landmarks in Bamako.
