Government House (Liechtenstein)

Weather…

The Government House in Vaduz is one of Liechtenstein's most significant architectural monuments, representing the state sovereignty of the principality. It was built between 1903 and 1905 based on designs by the Viennese architect Gustav von Neumann in the Late Renaissance style. The striking facade, made of Rorschach sandstone, is adorned with the large Princely coat of arms above the main entrance. For over a century, the building served as the seat of both the government and the parliament (Landtag) until the legislature moved to a new building in 2008. The interior features magnificent staircases and historicist details that reflect the close connection to Austrian architectural traditions of that era. It is not only an administrative center but also a site of historic decisions that shaped Liechtenstein's path from an agrarian state to a modern financial and industrial hub. Today, it remains the seat of the government and stands as a national symbol of stability and tradition in the heart of the government district.
