Bahra 1 Archaeological Site (Kuwait)

Weather…

Bahra 1 is an archaeological site of global importance located in the Subiya region of northern Kuwait. Attributed to the Ubaid culture, it is dated to the 6th millennium BC, making it one of the earliest known prehistoric settlements on the Persian Gulf. Excavations by a Polish-Kuwaiti team have uncovered the remains of a settlement with stone buildings and pottery showing close links to Mesopotamia. The most remarkable find is a terracotta model of a reed boat, considered the oldest of its kind, proving early maritime activities. The site provides crucial evidence of extensive trade and cultural networks that connected prehistoric Mesopotamia with the coastal communities of the Gulf, long before the more famous civilizations emerged.
