Magwa Field (Kuwait)

Weather…

The Magwa Field is an integral part of the Greater Burgan complex, the world's largest sandstone oil field. It is located immediately north of the main Burgan field and south of Kuwait City. Discovered in 1951, Magwa was instrumental in solidifying Kuwait's position as a leading global oil exporter. Geologically, it shares many characteristics with the Burgan field but features its own specific reservoirs within the Wara and Mauddud formations. Production at Magwa is highly efficient and cost-effective due to excellent rock properties and high reservoir pressure. The field is operated by the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and is linked via an extensive pipeline network to the refineries and export ports along the coast. In recent decades, modern monitoring technologies have been implemented at Magwa to optimize reservoir depletion and extend the lifespan of the wells. Despite its maturity, Magwa remains a highly productive zone, indispensable for the country's daily production quotas. Its proximity to the industrial infrastructure of Ahmadi makes it a logistically handy location within the Kuwaiti oil industry.
