Al-Ahmadi, located in southern Kuwait, is the heart of the Kuwaiti oil industry. The city was founded in the 1940s by the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and named after Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The urban layout is characterized by an organized grid street plan and plenty of green spaces, which distinguishes it from other Kuwaiti cities. The headquarters of KOC is located here, and the city's economy is almost exclusively focused on the petroleum sector. The Ahmadi Display Center gives insights into the history of oil extraction in the region. Despite its industrial character, the city has its residents a high quality of life with numerous parks, sports facilities, and the Al-Ahmadi Hospital, one of the most modern medical facilities in the country. The architecture is a mix of traditional Arab and modern elements.
